We all have no moral responsibility. To be morally responsible means we must be ultimately responsible for who and what we are. But, at the earliest stage, there is no way we can be responsible for who and what we are, therefore we are not responsible. Comments?

wait, how can u ever haf moral choice as anything other than a yes, no? Like in deciding whether to muder chong wenhoo, haf a single choice, to murder or not to murder, and i can only be either morally responsible for it, or not morally responsible for it, how can i be partially morally responsible? Ya, we say sometimes that we share responsibility, but tat still means that we each take responsibility. Responsibility isnt something u can cut up.

huh I don't get the question. You saying we must "ultimately" be accoutable for ourselves, so what for care about what we are in the beginning? So does moral responsibility encompass a lifelong commitment (in which case I think the answer to the question can only be true) or is it defined only by the end result?

to chong wenhoo, cuz if u were not responsible in the past, and you are shaped by the past, and the circumstances ard u, which are not in ur control, you cant be responsible for wat u are now.
to pnut, ya, muz be ultimately accountable, tats y muz trace back the responsibility for us being the way we are, are we the way we are cuz of ourselves, or is it out of our control, like do u pin moral responsibility on a kleptomaniac?

to bert, sorry, juz tot of something i wanted to tell u, u want to take philosophy, u got to think first lor, do u get frustrated when u think abt something n there appears to be no answers? i came in looking for an answer, for the prof to sort of point me in a way so as to get an ans. instead, he juz puts me to sleep, n i get frus cuz it seems like all u get are more questions. its like some parts are interesting, like when u reading abt the diff theories and arguments, like the Basic argument above, cuz i cant think of a way to refute it, den i think, wat a goddamn genius, but majority of the stuff i think are cockanathans bullshitting. the genius portions make up for a lot, but i wish i din haf to sit thru the rest to get to these little bits.
of cuz, i dun like the course cuz i think he has very obvious bias in class towards certain pple, like some pple talk absolute bs, n he entertains them, others he juz ignores totally, even when they bring up good points.

why can't i decide to be responsible now? u confirm u noe exactly how the human mind works to claim that our actions today are a direct consequence of our personality? e.g. I give u example. computer hardware memory. if say over time the memory accumulate inputs, and then the output is based on memory. proof please!

when u say we are shaped by the past right, can u elaborate on how u think human behaviour works? Let's say put me in a situation lah. I walk on the street, I see you, then I kick you. Use leg kick. Can explain in as much detail as possible what u think is going on in my mind, based on the "we are shaped by the past model"? Am i right to say right, according to your belief, we have no conscious free will? That means if right now I go and kidnap two identical twins, I put them in my Edmund's Black Box and feed them food, maintain pH, temperature, etc. in exactly the same way for 20 years. When they 21 y.o. I open the black box and run them through a complicated maze with many 3000 different paths and 4000 different endings. (shiok sia) What you're saying is, they will take exactly the same paths, correct? I not saying that that's a wrong belief, I can't prove it also, I just asking whether is that what u believe, based on your original statement?

edchong: read my reply above. i was implying tt the moment u r born, u have a certain set of personality traits (zodiac n horoscope believers will nod their heads) built in already. Or if u're the kind who believes tt personality is shaped by experience in the early years of childhood, oso same. Do u get to choose what experience u wanna have?
ppl arnd u tell u that F=ma. U can choose to believe or not to. If u believe, its because u trust the education system, ur teachers etc. If u dun, its because u are skeptical n stuff. Thing is, why do u choose to believe or not to? Personality, personal experiences in the past, or simply tt u believe in something else. whatever it is, u can always blame it on ur experience in the past, or ur personality traits which u cannot choose. (e.g. "i dun think F=ma cuz i dun like angsiewhoon's face" cuz u think u'll perfer charlene choi-face teachin' u physics.)
if u think of it this way: "Blame whatever u do wrongly on something else." Then start thinking of all the wrong things u have done. Ultimately, u'll end up (i think) with a conclusion like "my parents taught me this way" or "i nv experience this b4" or "i dun haf money" etc etc which u cannot choose. N tts y u dun haf to take responsibility for ur wrongdoings.
N even if u go out n rape ppl now, its bec. i say its okay, n u stupid enuff to believe its an excuse for u to commit crimes. Therefore i'm a manipulator n u r stupid.
