In response to For the holidays, i wanna sex.

Yay too long for comments box.

Anyway, seriously, i do not believe in that "i accept everything others say" thingy. If you consider yourself a human, u shld have a set of values of ur own, whether copied wholesale frm a religion or formed frm ur own experience.(n hereby set up another Protestant group.) actually no 2 ppl will have the exact same set of values la, cuz of the variation in experiences in their lives. so says making sense. N if i were in ur shoes, i'll just accept it that the christians truely believe in their faith, it empowers them. But it doesn't mean its true for me. Likewise, they should think that I respect them for their strong religious faith, yet know that i believe otherwise. ya think sociology. take a step back and Analyse why ppl act/react that way. Kaoz sociology rox lo.

i follow the path of empiricism.(must see to believe) Maybe you do, too. And you should explain to others the meaning of the word so that they give up. (i learnt of this word frm making sense of society tutorial when i told the whole class i dun believe in god till i see him myself)

but sometimes even i feel that empiricism is kinda silly. like, why then do i believe wat the scientists themselves told me? the world's possibly a deceit man, and i'm being selective. perhaps religious ppl will think i'm silly in my "beliefs" too. But its all about tolerence no? I dun ruffle ur feathers, u dun ruffle mine. unless u start bombing my beloved computer labs and physics labs just because u dun like them. (hooray! oops)

anyway, making sense of society is interesting. They tried to explain religions as economic firms fighting for the faith market. and more importantly, ppl turn to say christianity because they kiasu, better to believe than not to. Normal wat. its just tt not all are kiasu with their afterlives, not all are kiasu with sales n stuff.

So. Anyone wans my old-ed textbook?? (though i haben finished reading it myself, and i wanna. its That interesting. minus the terminology of cuz)

Ok, let me try to explain my feeling in a different way:

Try to think of one non-Christian who you feel close to. Now imagine that he tells you that tmr he will convert to Christianity tmr. I dunno lah, maybe I'm just not that open-minded. If one day any of my close friends convert I know I will have alot of doubts going through my mind.

ey edchong. colin converting to islam tmr.

n dun liddat la. ok i admit when i heard MZ & MY were converting a few yrs back i oso abit stunned. but hey, they're still the same old them ma. N i've met christians who are faithful, but dun talk about it to me. hmm ok as u said, maybe its just the way u feel about things so i can't force u to feel otherwise. but.. yay! (duno how to conclude haha)

n to bert: yeah i din noe christianity got SO SO SO many levels sia. Making sense lesson again. Started frm catholic or something, then they just kept branching out to hundreds of protestant groups. Power lo. and in "economic terms", they branch out to form firms to fight for a share in the faith market.

n hor. nobody here will be in the right frame of mind to hunt for those emails again. at least i noe i wun. haha. u do another summary la~ q=

Religion gives the religious a purpose in life, something that cannot be proven or disproved, something to believe in. People who have strong faith in themselves usually do not need such "godly support" to find solace in life.

I'll just live and know that one day the sun will run out and life on earth will cease to exist. By that time, I'll be part of the earth, part of the trees and part of the soil. My essence will live on and that's my purpose in life: to get through life with everything I've got; not for some idealised superbeing up in the sky.
