Updates on Ilango

1. Some of you may still have doubts about why I'm doing this. I would like to tell you I am very serious about this kind of things. Of course there are times I just feel like heck caring and go play game etc. I do it for only one reason, because I believe it's the right thing to do. That's the feeling: I will not let myself heck care. I hope you understand this, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

2. Regarding the signatures. After the 4o gathering, the whole night I was pretty troubled. There were some who signed even when they could not remember anything regarding Ilango. But after a good night's zzz I figured that so many signatures in the end also no use.

Why? Simple: we are probably going to have to go in Hon Chiew Weng (principal)'s office to give our own statements anyway. If there are a couple of uncontactable emails there, in the end the credibility of the letter also diminishes. Okay to those guys, really really thanks for your support, but I can't accept your signatures.

For those who sign, please be mentally prepared. My personal impression of Hon is that he will give no chance and no face to students. He will probably find any possible loophole in our arguments to send us home and settle the matter as quick and quiet as possible.

3. I have reworded the letter. The original, I opted for more force / impact. Cannot. Like that asking to be sued. So I reworded. To summarize: a change of stance from open accusation to calling for investigation. Let the facts speak for themselves.

4. Who can sign? "To be precise, not all may share the exact same account of events as listed above. However each signature carries 1) the request for a formal investigation into this matter and 2) the agreement to provide an individual statement." This statement gives more power to the letter...more people can sign it with less reservations. You sign, you reserve the right to your own words. The common thing among all who sign is: belief in the possibility of certain misconduct, enough to warrant an investigation.

5. Phishing. For those who've read the original letter, I've removed that portion. I've decided, I will pursue that matter at my own time. The person in charge of the anti-phishing site says it's pretty hard to prove. Because the siteowner can claim ignorance / hacking.

I've already called up the number listed by the anti-phishing site to verify that it is indeed Ilango. I assure you, I spoke to him over the phone. I verified his address. I confirmed that he still currently runs his own IT company. I confirmed that he was indeed an ex-teacher of Chinese High. This should put to rest any doubts of mistaken identity.

6. That's all. Now that I've pressed my own reset button I have to start from scratch in getting signatures. Also I will track down those from 1I/2H (computing tdp). And of course Andrew Sng. Once I've gathered all the possible signatures the letter goes straight to HCI.

The makings of a great investigative journalist!

Just curious, if say got shopkeeper shortchange you $1 on a $100 item, will you go back to settle? What if it was five cents? What if going back would require $2 bus fare? What if he gave you $1 extra change? Is it just the principle of the thing?
