Ok i try to explain in english, please correct me if any part i am wrong...
When will the bright moon appear, I raise my glass in question. Dunno in heaven, now what is their date.

I'd like to ride the winds to up there but I ah gua scared cold.

Dancing with the shadows under the moonlight is an earthly pleasure, u think go heaven can do that?

阁=the building. 绮户=some patterned window thingy. Ok this line I have difficulty. The chinese explanation I read say the moonlight shift to the building and the window, "照着离人不能成眠". I dun understand. What is 离人? Peanut told me is family? Or friends or something. I see like ppl fucking (离情正浓)then moonlight shine on the lovers. Muahahhahaha.

The moon has no grudge against humans, why must purposely when ppl are saying goodbye then it becomes full and round? Oh perhaps this explains what is 离人, to be taken literally. People engaging in goodbyes.

Just as the human world has its own ups and downs, the moon will go thru its phases. Since ancient times is liddat, cannot be helped.

The first part I understand, to wish for everlasting peace and happiness. Second part I not too sure, my interpretation is: even if we are a thousand miles apart, in admiring the moon, we are together? And we can wish each other well, is that it? What is 婵娟? (dun laugh ah) The moon fairy? Sorry my chinese lousy.

So in the end the poem ends on an optimistic note, resolving the 不应有恨 earlier....life is beautiful and worth cherishing. =)

Hear it sung by Faye Wong
--------------------------------
I'd like to say that I was curious to know more about this poem after wondering what the hell the line I saw on a blog meant and tay wei chung led me to this. I got hear the song b4 but never knew the full lyrics of the poem. Strangely enough, later that night I was watching tv at around 3:30am liddat, the song actually came up in a lame hk movie! Wtf. I was damn stunned sia. I wonder what are the chances of that occurring.

Funny leh you... third verse already wrong. It actually means dancing with the shadows, what difference is there to heaven?
Fourth verse actually means the moonlight shone through the tinted glass of the red building, causing the person who is thinking of his close ones to have insomnia.

to cut the bullshit, basically 离人 refers to people you have feelings for eg. gf bf family friends etc. Anyway that day i told u is 离人 lah not 离情。离情 i think u can understand, just take the literal meaning.

so 婵娟 means moon, and the last phrase shows the author hoping that everyone will live to a ripe old age and admire the moon together, metaphorically i think also got your interpretation (not sure).

Anyway: eh i taut u google very lihai, dono how to search yourself isit

Eh the chances of that occuring is quite high. Selective exposure. U never learn in psychology meh? cos ur mind subconsciously directed to looking out for it, so u observe it everywhere.

It is something like other pple dun see porn jokes everywhere, but u dun have a problem with dat. Yep. General idea.

OEI...y u deny me my sense of meaning? Man like to make meaning out of seemingly unrelated events. i.e. I can now say this song is special to me, just like this girl is special to me because I saw her when blah blah. Hey don't take that away from me!

"cos ur mind subconsciously directed to looking out for it"-->Arguable. Your argument has logical appeal, but not necessarily true, and not falsifiable either.
