Two opposition parties appear to be eyeing contest in Jurong GRC

Residents of Jurong Group Representation Constituency may just see more than their fair share of election buzz.

The Singapore Democratic Party had earlier indicated that it would contest the People's Action Party team there - but have been very quiet so far.

Now, it seems the National Solidarity Party may also be eyeing the GRC.

Lim Boon Heng, Advisor, Jurong GRC, said: "Yesterday afternoon, we sighted possibly the first sign of some activity. I was told by my intelligence team that an SDA member was sighted at Jurong East MRT station yesterday afternoon, selling the NSP newsletter."

Mr Lim, who is also the PAP Chairman, says his team is hoping for a contest so that residents will have a chance to demonstrate whether they are happy with the PAP.

When contacted, NSP's Steve Chia would not deny or confirm if his party will stand in Jurong GRC. - CNA/ch
